Cleaning

Cleaning of artworks is done to remove changes in the original appearance of the work, like browning, caused by dust, dirt, and debris stuck to the surface and varnish. Cleaning is done either mechanically, using special tools, brushes, scalpels, etc. (mechanical cleaning), or with chemicals, using solvents (chemical cleaning), or by using a combination of both methods.
