Ceramic

Clay is made of soil and water, and shaped or molded into form by the artist. The work is then baked (fired) in a special furnace, resulting in a fairly hard and durable material called ceramic. Ceramic works can feature engraved and protruding elements, and their surface can be treated with glaze or paint, or also left untreated.
