Color restoration is used in art conservation only when an artwork has suffered irreparable damage. The painted surface filled with paint, a delicate operation that requires the use of colors that can be easily removed if necessary (reversible process). The quality of color restoration should be in harmony with the rest of artwork, and is undertaken to correct and cover any damage that may be distracting to the appreciation of the original artist's intent.
