Storage Methods

The storage of paper works of art, and of paper archives, plays a key role in their protection and preservation. In some cases, the work involved in developing the appropriate storage means and conditions is a lot more involved than the work of restoration and maintenance. Although there are numerous commercially available archival containers, boxes, cases, etc., they are mainly for archival material and have size limitations. Therefore, usually each work requires the construction of a special container, made from selected ingredients, and with unique specifications, with the strict requirement that these materials be non-acidic.
Works on paper supports should be stored in low humidity, temperature and lighting.
